Michael Christian (pen name William Cane) was always interested in kissing. In 1989 he began research for a book on the subject. That book, The Art of Kissing, was published in 1991 and almost overnight became an international bestseller. It has now been translated into 19 languages and there are more than a quarter million copies in print worldwide. He revised the book in 1995 and again in 2005. In response to the demand from readers for more help with kissing, especially visual help that they could see, Christian decided to make a documentary based on the book The Art of Kissing. Filming took place in Boston and New York during the summer and fall of 2000 and the video was released in 2001 with the same title as the book, The Art of Kissing.
